Ground-based supports

With properly selected and installed rebar supports, you ensure a high-quality outcome. Our selection includes several types of supports with different cover depths for various applications.

Ground-based supports are used when the casting base is soft, such as sand or insulation. The cover depths for ground-based supports are 25-100 mm. The supports have an open structure that fills easily with concrete, preventing air pockets from forming inside the support and the casting.

The same support is suitable for two different rebar heights. The recommended installation density is 4-6 pcs/m². When casting against the ground, a rebar cover depth of at least 50 mm from the ground is recommended.

A rebar support has a significant impact on the lifespan of a structure. Pay attention to a sufficiently thick layer of concrete protecting the rebars, as this improves the concrete's protective ability and prevents the onset of active corrosion.

To ensure a durable result, also consider the cover depth, which is the height of the support, and always use the recommended number of rebar supports (4-6 pcs/m²). When casting directly against the ground, the concrete cover depth must be more than 50 mm. The durability of the structure is also affected by the quality of the concrete, especially the water-cement ratio.

The rebars are supported in the formwork with rebar supports at a sufficient density. They are tied to each other, if necessary using working reinforcement, so firmly that the position of the rebars after casting meets the requirements. During casting, the reinforcement tends to sink downwards, which is why the rebars should be installed slightly higher than the required cover depth.

PE kemiallinen kaava

Polyethylene (PE) is the most widely used type of plastic in the world. Polyethylenes are divided into two main groups based on density: low-density polymers (LDPE) and high-density polymers (HDPE). The common properties of all PE grades are:

  • Lightweight (density for all grades is less than 1 g/cm³, meaning they all float in water)
  • Good chemical resistance
  • Wide operating temperature range from -45 °C to +75 °C
  • Toughness
  • Easily machinable and weldable
  • Wear-resistant, slippery surface
  • Good electrical insulation
  • Economical
  • The properties of PE can be modified, for example, by UV stabilization.

Recycled raw material is also used for Inora's rebar supports.
